Oh what great memories for the Beach bums - I hung out with Linda, Lori, Randi, and myself (Joanne) from Wantagh - all went to Jonas Salk. We alternatively hung out at the beach #4, and Eisenhower (Salisbury Park). Anyone know where Doug Willoughby, Prof (Walter Carney) and Jamie Buzwell ever ended up? The best memories of my life were the bums and hanging out at the beach!

I lived in Seaford. I had a party in ’73 (apparently) where many of the people that hung out in the park and the beach met up. I had gone to both the park and the beach that day and handed out maps to my house! (I had been hanging out in both places) Ask Jeff Curtis, Scott Olsen or Jack Tepper. The Beechal brothers were at that party too, along with at least 100 others. The cops came; it was a ton of fun. There was even live music in the backyard and someone was playing my mom’s piano in the living room. I knew Tommy R too. Dave and Bobby introduced me. And I remember being at a party at Fred Botway's in Merrick. Much of this has only come back to me by reminiscing with the folks on the website and getting back in contact with since I moved away in ’77. I spent many a summer day playing winky dink and getting kicked off the railing by the state cops and watching friends get busted over specs of pot in their pants pockets. Where was the ACLU back then?

What is weird to remember is being at parties all over the South Shore, like Merrick, East Meadow, Plainview, the beach and the park all without having a car. I know me and my girlfriends walked allot and we hitched but that’s an awful lot of hitching. It must have been allot safer back then.

As we know Jones Beach was part of our youth and memories and it is part of our past as we know it as it was destroyed by Sandy. Being it meant so much to us, please do what you can to help restore the south shore by donations or manpower. Let's keep our dreams alive of it always being their for others to create their own memories and life long friendships.

Wishing everyone a safe and happy holiday season. For those of you who have lost homes, possesions and some sanity, I do hope you heal and get life back on track very soon. We have all ridden this wave and it was not a good one. I am completely speechless.

My thoughts and prayers go out to all of the bums effected by "Hurricane Sandy" and my family and friends.

When you rise in the morning I do hope the sun to be shining on your face, a smile in your heart and a glow in the thoughts of happier times in the past and to come for you and yours. I am sending Love and positive thoughts for my family, friends and all of the The Jones Beach Bums for a better year to come. The next reunion should be a good one as it always is.
